Films Reviewed: Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties and Cars

Commentary: Best and Worst of the first half of 2006

Featurette: Rascall Flatt’s video for “Life is a Highway”

Regarding Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties:

Matt: The story for the second “Garfield” venture is better than the first, but that is because it’s a remake of Mark Twain’s “The Prince and the Pauper” with animals.  All the live action animals are better actors than the CGI fat cat.  Your children won’t mind, but you will.  One and a half stars.

Aron: Once again, the real animals upstage Garfield.  And the acting isn’t much better than in the previous film.  It’s another children’s film that gets released during the summer.  I give it one and a half stars, too.

Average rating: *1/2 (out of ****)

Regarding Cars:

Aron: I liked this film a lot better when it was called Doc Hollywood.  Nowhere is that screenplay referenced on screen anywhere.  The Pixar people really should be ashamed for ripping off the story.  But the animation looked awesome and the cast is fun.  Three stars.

Matt: I never saw Doc Hollywood, so I didn’t have those issues with the film.  I thought all the cars looked great and the town of Radiator Springs really is a nice place to live.  It’s not Pixar’s strongest film, but it didn’t have to be.  You’ll have a great time.  Four stars!!
